PROgram Supervisor (FULL-TIME)

The Village of Romeoville Parks & Recreation Department is seeking a Full-Time Program Supervisor. The department has a budget of $8 million and a population of approximately 40,000 residents. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for the community by providing a variety of leisure time activities. To accomplish this, the department provides over 1,000 different programs and events.

Job Summary:
The Program Supervisor will develop, oversee, plan, and coordinate programming for all age groups – Early Childhood, Youth, Teen, Adult, and Senior. This position will also coordinate, plan, and assist with various special events held by the department. The Program Supervisor must be a strong and effective manager with the ability to train, inspire, motivate, and evaluate staff progress. They should be innovative to aid in the ongoing program development and growth.  Must be able to establish a cohesive and team-oriented work environment. Program Supervisor must have a high level of professionalism to interact and correspond with participants, parents, contractors, and various organizations. Additional duties include the management (registration, payments, and correspondence) of a new dog park facility. Candidate may be required to get certified for pool operations and assist the Manager of Aquatic Facilities from time to time (new pool 2023). The Program Supervisor will be under the direction of the Superintendent of Recreation. The hours for this position are generally Monday through Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm; however, additional nights and weekends are required on a regular basis for program and event needs.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation or closely related field is required. A minimum of two years of experience in developing and administering recreation programming for all age groups is preferred. Knowledge and experience of planning and implementing Special Events is preferred. Strong communication skills and attention to detail is a must. Ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of appropriate programming for all ages and have the ability to be innovative, creative, and adaptable to change. Candidate should have basic knowledge of general budgeting and invoicing. RecTrac experience is desired.

This is a full-time, non-union position with excellent benefits including IMRF pension, in additional to vacation, personal, and sick time. Salary range is $65,000 to $70,000 depending on qualifications and/or experience.

Gymnastics Coach (Part-TIME)

The Romeoville Recreation Department has an exciting opportunity open for an enthusiastic and reliable optional level coach for the remaining 2021/2022 AAU competitive season of gymnastics. This coach will primarily be responsible for making lesson plans, coaching/spotting gymnasts during practice, attend and coach gymnasts at meets in 2022, collaborating with the other team coaches to create a cohesive and fun practice environment, and ensure safety and daily requirements are met. Training and assistance will be provided but experience with AAU optional rules, deductions, and requirements are preferred and will be compensated for. Coaching position is available beyond the 2021/2022 competitive season.

This position would be a minimum of 3 practice evenings a week (12 hours) with some various weekend hours such as extra practices, private lessons and gymnastics meets. This position has the potential for up to 20 hours a week and IMRF benefits.

Additional responsibilities can include, coaching recreation gymnastics classes, private lessons, open gym, and other duties as assigned. Some paperwork and office hours as assigned and assisting with the training new staff.

The ideal candidate would have a minimum of 1 year of competitive gymnastics coaching experience, or a prior gymnast with experience working with other kids/gymnasts. Candidate is also preferred to have a firm understanding of AAU/GIJO competition rules. They would also have a positive attitude, be comfortable working with other and speaking with parents and be able to work independently with limited supervision once training is over.

Hourly pay is based on experience, but starts at $17/hour.

Athletic Coordinator

The Romeoville Recreation Department is seeking Athletic Coordinators. Applicants for the Athletic Coordinator Position must be 18 years or older and must be able to operate and drive a Village Vehicle (Van and Truck). The Athletic Coordinator will report directly to the Athletic Supervisor.

Applicants should have general knowledge of rules and operations for athletics leagues run by Recreation Department, including basketball, volleyball, softball, and baseball. The purpose of this position is to assist the Athletic Supervisor with athletic league and rental operations. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to; overseeing the site supervisors, maintaining official records and time/score keeping of athletic leagues or programs, operating official scoreboards, assisting instructors with the set-up and clean-up of programs, and setting up facility either indoors or outdoors for athletic leagues or programs. Athletic Coordinators will also have the opportunity to lead and instruct sports clinics. Tasks are regularly performed in safe and comfortable surroundings indoors, with some exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Applicants MUST have evening and weekend availability, with working 20-25 hours per week. This position is a part time, year-round position (not seasonal).

BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE  (PART-TIME)

The Romeoville Recreation Department is seeking caring and responsible Before and After School Instructors. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: supervising school aged children kindergarten to 5th grade, plan and implement program activities, adhere to the safety guidelines of the program, and must demonstrate a positive and professional attitude. BuILDING aTTENDANT (pART-tIME)

The Romeoville Recreation Center is seeking Building Attendants to assist Building Managers in operation and function of the Recreation Center Facility. Shifts are afternoons, evenings and weekends. Duties and Responsibilities include: light maintenance work (vacuuming, sweeping, mopping and cleaning restrooms), room set up and take down of table and chairs, customer relations, attend mandatory Customer Service and CPR Training, attend monthly Staff Meetings, assist instructors in the set-up and clean-up of programs, assist the public with the set-up and clean-up of rental rooms and work special events and programs.

Child Care Staff (Part-Time)

The Romeoville Recreation Center is seeking part-time child care staff. Duties and Responsibilities include: supervising children ages six months and up, act as the Indoor Playground Attendant and supervise participants of the Indoor Playground, create and lead child activities, enforce the policies and rules, cleaning, collecting entry fees, report accidents and incidents, inform parents of program policies and information, develop positive relationships with participants, follow the safety and emergency procedures, attend mandatory staff meetings, trainings, and events.

DANCE INSTRUCTOR (PART TIME)

The Romeoville Recreation Department is currently seeking experienced, highly motivated, energetic, and self-sufficient dance instructors. Ability to effectively communicate with participants, parents, and staff is crucial. Job responsibilities include but are not limited to; lesson planning, maintaining accurate records, following all safety procedures and instructing a combination of lower level ballet, hip hop, jazz, and tap classes. YOUTH PROGRAM INSTRUCTORS  (Part-Time)

The Romeoville Recreation Department is seeking a multitalented Youth Program Instructor. The Youth Program Instructor will be responsible for planning and instructing a diverse set of youth general interest programs. Topics of instruction can include arts and crafts, drawing, painting, photography, calligraphy, STEM, fishing, and more! Individuals must have the ability to adapt to the needs of different age groups and have experience working with children in an enrichment setting.
